In our company, only authorized users with internet enabled IP addresses can
surf the internet, in other words, only certain IP adresses are allowed out
through the firewall (Cisco PIX) I have a MS Windows XP workstation that has
a non- internet enabled IP address yet it I can sit down and surf the web?
how this is I am not sure. when I set the workstation up I did use an
internet enabled IP address to pull down the Patches but when it was
deployed the IP address was changed to a non enabled number, so how am I
able to open IE and surf the web?

Contact your boss. Your server has been compromised.
Your IP is not disabled nor listed. Enjoy.

Try resetting the firewall to deny Internet access by hardware MAC number
instead. If the DHCP server assigns a different IP than what you intended,
that IP may be given Internet access.
