Use of Templates

Using Excel 2003.

Templates are stored deep in Doc and Settings by default. Should th
templates be left there or can they be stored elsewhere?

Am I corrrect that when a template is opened for use that it should b
saved using Save As, with a new name and saved as an .xls file (so tha
the template itself is not changed)?

Finally, would anyone know why in my Excel 2003 pgm that Template Hel
in the Task Pane window is greyed out and can't be accessed (and how
can fix it)?

Thank you for any help

Steps to using templates:

1. Create a template and save it with .xlt extension
2. Close the template file
3. File - > New, then select a template under the 'New from template
heading.
4. You now have a new .xls file created from the appropriate template.

other question: yes, you can save .xlt files anywhere on your P

The Template itself should not be opened, just a workbook based on the
Template. Use the File>New...New From Template

Default location for Excel Templates can be set in Word(yes, Word) under
Tools>Options>File Locations "Templates"

I don't see a "Template Help" option in my 2003 Task Pane. Maybe I am missing
something also?
