use of motion clips in powerpoint 97

I am running windows 98, and originally installed the
small office edition of Office 97. I have now a few years
on installed a copy of Powerpoint 97. I am do most basic
things with this set up but I have found that using the
office 97 disk2 for the clip art gallery I cannot install
a motion clip into a slide and get it to work actively in
'run show' mode. I have no trouble installing the video
clips onto a slide from the Powerpoint disk and they work
fine, as do the sounds and sounds from the clip art
gallery. My son is quite frustrated. Do you think this
is a faulty powerpoint disc or is there a incompatibility
of the motion clips in office 97 clip art gallery3.0 and
the powerpoint 97. Do you think I should ask for another
copy of the Powerpoint 97. Please reply to email above if
you have any advice.

Animated gifs (motion clips) were not introduced into PowerPoint until the
next version from the one you have (Office 2000). You will need to either
upgrade to a newer version or possibly create avi files (basically a video)
out of your animated gifs. Search Google for "Convert gif to avi" and see
what you find.
