Use KVM switch for monitors only?

I am assembling a new system which will have dual VGA outlets. I would
like to leave my existing system as is but be able to occasionally use
that monitor from the new system. Would I be able to connect only the
VGA portion of a KVM switch (no power supply needed, button control,
integrated cables, e.g. http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=227&sec=0 )
and leave the PS/2 connectors unused? I have not been able to locate a
'wired' video A/B switch and some of the 'wired' mini KVM switches are
$15.00 cheaper than buying an A/B video switch box and two SVGA cables.

TIA,

Certainly you can use the KVM for only monitors. I've occasionally run
into clients' boxen that don't play nice with the keyboard or mouse
attached to my KVM, or that need a usb keyboard or mouse. No problem
attaching a separate mouse or keyboard to that box and using the KVM
for monitor only.

The referenced KVM switch gets its power from the PS/2 connectors, so
unless you plug in one of the PS/2 connectors, the switch won't work.

Thank you, I will need to find one that does not draw power from the
PS/2 connection.
