Use filters while a sheet is protected

Hi

Could someone please help me? I am using Excel 2000,

I have a spreadsheet with several columns all with filters... the problem
is, is that when I protect the worksheet so that users cant mess up formulas
etc, the filters dont work ??? Is there any way round this
