USBSTOR device driver on IBM Thinkpad A30

I have a two-year old IBM Thinkpad A30 (2652-35U-N175)
running XP. I recently purchased a USB 2.0 Flash Drive
(128MB, 1.1/2.0 compatible) from SimpleTech. Although
Thinkpad recognizes the USB Flash Drive when plugged, it
lists it in the device manager window as "unknown device"
WITHOUT USBSTOR device driver and it does not list a new
drive in the Explore. I tried to install USBSTOR. It does
not let me do that. I have also a newly built desktop also
running XP. When I plugged the same USB device on that
machine. That machine recognizes and loads USBSTOR device
driver. You can see it in the device manager and also in
the registry table in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\USBSTO
R. In the Thinkpad when I run PC-Doctor it says Failed
Device Enumeration. I do not understand why IBM Thinkpad
XP does not recognize the SimpleTech Flash Drive.

I need this working to be able to transfer files from the
Thinkpad to the desktop.

I really appreaciate any lead to a solution. Thanks in
advance.

Regards,

Erkin
