Does anyone know of a USB2IDE driver for Vista. Both XP and Win98 had one
but Vista does not seem to have one availiable.

Many thanks in advance,

Aaron

I've put a number of IDE drives in trays or boxes that connected via USB and
they all came up with the native Vista USB and HD drivers. If it's a new
drive to your system you might need to use the disk mount utility that comes
with the drive. What are you trying to do exactly? and what's not working?

I have a USB drive that requires the usb2ide driver usb2ide.inf and
usb2ide.sys this is availiable on XP and Win98 but is not on Vista, I cannot
seem to find a usb2ide driver for Vista anywhere on the net.

Thanks,

Aaron

Are these requirements from some documentation you have or did an attempt at
installing this drive tell you it needed them? Did you try to install the
drive? Many of the drivers are already in Vista...but maybe not the same
name...or they are universal.

You should not need any special driver. It such Plu 'n Play.
If it doesn't contact the manufacturer/vendor of the un-named unit.

Vista is asking for a driver called USB2IDE and failing to find it. The
drive software does not provide a Vista driver so it is probably a dead
parrot on Vista.

Hmm, doesn't look good. When Vista searches for new drivers, make sure the
option is used to search the internet for it rather then look only locally.

Your boxes have a BIOS built in to handle the conversion

Yeah ? But you still prsumably need a USB2IDE driver to broker the
connection.

What are these devices BTW. I'm not trying to be nosey but have you tried
competitive products that may use similar Vista drivers as a work around.
