USB webcam not recognized

since 3-4 days, I have been trying to have this webcam to work, i have been using it since 2 yrs, but suddenly it seems to have given up on me.
i have reinstalled the drivers n number of times, but when ever I plug in the webcam, its not recognized by the system.
evrything else apart from it seems to work fine, the external mouse, printer, or just any other USB device, but this web cam doesnt work.
Its vimicro usb pc camera ZC0301PLH

Sounds as if the web cam might had come to the end of its life, best thing to do is to buy another web cam.
