usb device error: the name is already in use as either a service name or a
service display name

An error occured during the installation of the device
The data is invalid
 
what is this device used for. is it for a CDMA mobile device?
 
It is used on a IBM Thinkpad R40. Since the R40 has no serial port we need
this adapter to connect to an external modem.
