USB to RS232 Cable (Garmin GPS)

Pat

I have a Dell Inspiron 2650 which does NOT have a serial
DB9 connection. I bought a USB to Serial cable and plugged
it into my Dell and Garmin GPS. I thought it would just
start working. It doesn't.

What do I have to do to get it working?

Thanks
Pat

I know this may sound silly, but what have you actually plugged into this adapter cable? This could send us to the root of the problem

If you havent plugged anything into nit, don't worry, Windows wont show it up as being connected until you connect something to it. Even then, it may not...

Pat clearly stated that he/she connected the cable to the computer and the
Garmin GPS.

Pat, I think you must use the GPS in conjunction with some program that has
software for the use of a GPS (such as Street Atlas USA, etc). Do you have
any software from Garmin?
