usb to parallel

I have a usb to 25 pin parallel cable, but my doesn't prompt me when i plug
it in.cann't seem to figure out why ?

Where did you buy the cable from? Did you check with their tech support
team?
Also, inquire if the cable requires special drivers for Windows XP.

It's probably not working because parralell is not plug and play whereas usb
is so if your trying to plug into parallel port then thats y.
 
I don't know of any "USB to [whatever]" conversion cable that doesn't
require some sort of drivers. You should have gotten a driver disk with the
cable if you purchased it new. If used, you will need to find out who made
the cable and see if they have the drivers available online..
