USB Stopped Working

Until recently my usb ports on an Acer laptop were working fine. Then
suddenly they both stopped, nothing changed that I know of. No usb devices
are recognised when plugged in (mouse, memory stick, camera). When I look in
the device manager the usb hub & host controller are there it says that they
are working.

I have re-installed windows & no change there.

Try removing all references to USB in Device Manager, reboot the
machine an let XP find the USB stuff anew. This sometimes works.

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately this has had no effect wahtsoever.
I have just noticed that the red light on my mouse is not working on this
usb but does work on others.

Then it could be a physical problem with that particular port. Have you
tried other USB devices in that port? You may have to get Acer to have
a look at your machine.
