USB RC15 error

does anybody know of a solution for this?

I keep getting a 'Found new hardware' popup whenever my external usb
drive is connected.
and the hardware is apparently called 'RC15'.
the drive has been working fine before.

theres nothing about 'RC15' on the web it seems...

appreciate it if someone can offer advice.
