About a week ago my area was having power outtage and after the fouth time,
my USB ports have "stop" working. Everything was working fine before that and
after trying uniunstall and updated the drivers still isn't working. I've run
out of ideas what I can do.

this is the error message windows gives me when i plug my Mini disc player.

USB device not recognized:
one of the USB devices attched to this computer has malfunctioned,
and windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this
problem, click this message.

I also have a USB mouse which doesn't work and windows doesn't seem to
cognized it. I've tried change USB port but none of the 4 ports seem to work
at all.

thanks,
Kristopher

Hi Kristopher:

Sounds like you fried your USB board (if it's an add in card) or your
motherboard took a hit and wiped out the USB ports. Try moving the
USB devices to a machine that you know the USB ports are working -
just to make sure the devices are OK.

Buy a good UPS and use it. They're inexpensive and can save you money
in the long run.

can try going into control panel->system->hardware->device manager
then expand universal serial bus controllers and delete all the entries in
there and restart, the found new hard ware wizard should automatically
reinstall them. and then test

but it could simply be fried..
