USB ports do not work with port replicator

I recently bought a port replicator for my Compaq Presario 2500 notebook.
When I connect the docking station to my computer the LAN, power, and speaker
cables work but the USB ports do not work. There is one USB port on the side
of my compuer which the replicator does not block which still works but the
USB ports on the port replicator do not work. I don't know if I need a
driver or what? Please help me.

Check with Compaq about the requirements of the port replicator you
bought. If it came with a manual, read it. Go to the website and
download any drivers necessary.

Port replicator problems in a docking stations are often caused by a
corrupted hardware profile.

Shut down, un-dock the laptop, startup, login with administrator rights,
right click My Computer, Properties, Hardware tab, Hardware profiles,
select Docked profile and delete it. Shut down, dock the laptop, start
up. It will re-build the docked hardware profile. You may have to adjust
your screen resolution.

If this doesn't fix the problem you may need to replace the docking station.
