Personally I would go ethernet connection. No installation worries with
regard to drivers, usb ports etc.

Agreed! You don't usually need any software on the machine at all,
which means there will be no software conflicts and it won't use the
CPU.

Easier to network and share, safer with NAT firewall, but more expensive as
USB's are often free from the ISP. If you are looking to go wireless now or
in the future then you can get a combined wireless access point, ethernet
hub, router and modem and save a lot of messy wires.
