USB Modem problem usbser.sys

Hi all,

I have a modem connected to the USB port of my laptop. This modem needs
the file usbser.sys usually shipped with Windows XP. The new laptop i
bought no longer has this file and it is not present in Service Pack 1a
either. Does anybody know if it has been replaced by another one? Or if it
has completely been removed from Windows XP?

It should be in the folder:

c:\windows\driver cache\i386\driver.cab
