the PS/2 port (keyboard) on my motherboard is messed up - i
think one of the pins is gone, so I'm using a USB keyboard.

If I reinstall windows, will Windows still be able to
detect the keyboard (USB)?

In other words, is the driver installed in Windows or BIOS?

The keyboard I am using is a Logitech Elite.

Thanks,

Hi,

Your keyboard will work whilst installing Windows as long as your
motherboard has legacy USB support.
You can just make sure it'll work when your computer boots up and see if
your USB keyboard can get into the BIOS by pushing the corresponding key
(F10, DEL, F1, etc.) depending on your motherboard manufacturer.

Hi,

Reboot the machine, using the keyboard, attempt to access the system BIOS.
If you can, and can navigate within it, then the motherboard supports the
USB keyboard (which is what you need). If not, then you may need to see if
it is possible to alter the mb configuration so that it does, or get it
repaired.

Some motherboards have a "specific" setting related to the
use of USB Keyboards and Mice. In others it is just a simple
"Enable USB Legacy" setting. In all 3 cases they should be
set to Enabled
