I have a USB floppy drive (Mitsumt model D353FUE) for my laptop. It
works perfectly except that when I remove it the whole system crashes.
I am running Windows XP home on P4 2.6 with 512mb ram. There is no
floppy drive for XP and the manufacturer doesnt respond to any emails.
Any ideas?

If you plug it in 'hot' then there should be the 'Safely remove
hardware' icon in the taskbar. Use that to say you want to remove the
floppy, then when told you can, unplug it
