USB Flash Drive

I recently purchased one of these new USP Flash Drives
from Comp-USA (32MB)
I plugged it into one of the USB ports on my machine and
was amazed at how well everything worked. I was able to
copy files to the drive, read files from the drive from
various programs, etc. The I unplugged it and took it on
the road.
So what's the problem?
I just plugged the device back into my machine after a
few weeks of carrying it around with me and it won't work!
When I plug it in, I get the following message - " An
error occurred during the installtion of the device.
One of the filter drivers installed for this device is
invalid." The error code displayed in the device
properties dialog box in device manager is "29" driver
not installed???

The device did not come with any drivers and it worked
the first time I plugged it in!!!
Does anyone know how I go about fixing this problem?

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Most probably you've installed the offending filter
driver with something else during these few weeks.
Try to roll back to earlies restore point, however I am not 100% sure it will help
with that filter driver or make situation even worse.

Thanks for the suggestion but that didn't work either.
Has anyone else had this problem and know of a solution.
How do I go about reinstalling the default MS driver
which seems to have been corrupted?

Have you tried to connect the flash to exactly same USB port
what you connected it to first time?
If this does not work, seek for professional help.
The default driver is not corrupted so reinstalling it won't fix the
problem.

I have a similar problem. I have a flash drive that I
wrote to on my XP Pro machine. I pulled it out and the
next day put it back in and cannot get XP to recognize it.
It says 'Unknown Device'. I believe it is because I did
not click on the icon while it was installed the first
time to perform the 'safely remove' function. I have yet
to figure it out. I have uninstalled the device and
attempted to reinstall it via hardware wizard. I even
attempted installing the flash driver software on the CD
it came with, but it does not make the connection. The
wizard does not activate the 'OK' button when I click on
the path. Only the 'Cancel' button works. Will be glad
to know what to do to make it work.

I had a talk with Lexar this morning for the same reason. They tol
me that there were identifiers on the flash chip which had becom
scrambled, which means that XP could not identify which drivers t
use. The flash does not speak a language which the XP can recognize
This means you can do all you want to your computor, but untill you
drive can be recognized and identified, they will not communicate.
The did not tell me how to fix the flash drive, just to send it in.
