Hey everyone. I have been having this problem for a long time now. I
have a 512mb pny attache. Everytime i stick it in to the usb drive,
2000 restarts. Then when it boots back up, i can access the drive. I
have all the latest drivers, i've even tried to reinstall them. I tried
this on one of my other computers with 2000 and i dont get this
problem. Can someone help me fix the problem? Thanks

Check your Event Viewer. Usually you get something like, "RSM cannot manage your..."
This has happened to me ever since these drives have been out and it's on all the
W2K boxes I've tried. So.

Depending on the Jump Drive, mass storage devices seem to be like Burners of old
(black art). Sooner or later, they will fix the problem(s). In the mean time, I
suggest you plug the device before you start the computer and remove it after you
shutdown.

Is it possible that the USB port may have a slightly loose connection in the
computer and when you insert the jump drive, it breaks connection. Does the
server reboot if you connect any other USB devices in this same port?

Hey Kevin, thanks for the reply. This was a bug and was fixed in a
patch i downloaded from Windows Update. Thanks.
