USB Flash Drive not working

I have 2 computers (one dell intel and a new athlon 64 both with xp pro sp2)
and I move files with a Kingston Data Traveler 512MB USB flash drive. Since
I installed my new Athlon, I have been trying to move files between the two
with the USB key. The Dell has always been able to read the flash until I
got the new Athlon. After plugging the Flash drive into the new computer and
taking it back to the Dell, the Dell has stopped reading the Flash drive.

It still show up in disk management.
It still shows up in Windows explorer.
But when I click on the Flash drive, it says, "The disk in drive G is not
formatted. Do you wish to format now?"
It will not let me copy files to the flash drive.

I reinstalled windows xp pro and even reinstalled SP2. I plugged the Flash
drive back into the Dell, and it began to read the flash drive again. I
copied some files to it, and moved them to the new Athlon. After that, I
unplugged it from the new Athlon and reinserted it back into the Dell and I
stopped reading it again!

Please help. What is going on?

I can take the Flash drive and plug it into any other computer, and it will
work.

Thanks for the info.

The flash drive does work on the Athlon based PC. It also works on every
other Dell XP pro computer here in our office.

I have tried all of the article resolutions and work arounds. Still nothing
works.

I did find the registry did not include the "USB" key as found in
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=314634

I have added it, but to no avail. The only time the Flash drive works is
when the computer is powered down, then brought back up with the Flash drive
inserted.

If the computer does recognize the Flash drive after doing this, I can
unplug it and wait 5 seconds and plug it back in and the computer will not
recognize it anymore.
