USB External Floppy Disk Drive-New Purchase Recommendation

I need to purchase a USB 3.5 inch external floppy disk drive to transfer
files from from my old computer, which is running Windows 98, to my new
computer running Vista Home Premium. The external floppy disk drives I've
looked at on NewEgg.com all support versions of Windows up to Vista but not
including Vista. I do not want to deal with driver problems so I'm doing
this research up front. Any suggestions are welcome. (Note: Vista Easy File
Transfer wiil not work with Windows 98)

If your Windows 98 has a open PCI slot {or you can make one}, you may want
to consider a low cost USB 2 card for your old computer and a USB 2 flash
drive to transfer files. If you have a laptop, you may want to consider a
USB card for it.

You would avoid any possible alignment problems between the floppy drive in
your old computer and a external USB drive and have a flash drive you could
use for other purposes with your new computer.

I am not aware of any issues with external floppy drives and Vista. I think
they just work. If your files are small enough to fit on floppies why can't
you zip them and just email them to yourself?

Not issues with external floppy drive and Vista. There are issues with
floppies made with one drive being read on another drive due to differences
in alignment. Also, I recall issues with floppies made with Windows 98 being
read on a Windows XP system {sorry do not recall details}. My point is that
floppies are an old technology with problems, so OP should at least consider
use of a flash drive.

OP will need to answer your question about email of files.

Sure, but just format the floppies on one or the other of the drives.
That's how I used to handle that. But I don't think it happens much.
