Hi,

I have an external USB hard drive which doesn't show up in My computer.
But it shows up in Device manager under Disk Drives as "IC35L060 AVV207-0
USB Device". I have XP Pro on my PC.

Any advice.?
Thanks for your help in advance.

format it, make it active, XP will then assign a drive
letter.

I am having the exact same problem. However, after formatting the USB key
from the "Disk Management" section in the "Manage" window when you right
click my computer, the drive still does not show up in Windows XP. In the
"Disk Management" window, it says the drive is "Healthy (active)". I am
running Windows XP Service Pack 2 on an IBM Thinkpad R32. This problem
occurs with any USB drive and formatting is not an option, considering that
the reason we want to use the key is to get data from it. Any help would be
much appreciated!

This often occurs when the drive does not receive
enough power from the USB port. Connect external power
to the drive or USB hub.

Not enough power? I noticed it is only using USB 1.1, and not 2.0. Could
that be the reason by itself, or the reason it isn't getting the power it
needs? I still can open and read all the contents of the drive, but I have
to open it through "Disk Management" in the "Manage" feature. I didn't think
I could connect external power to a usb key.

You can get a powered hub and insert the USB memory into the
powered hub. But you need to see why you're only getting
1.1. It could be driver or hardware. Check the properties
for the hubs and ports. Also, keep in mind, some
motherboards with USB 2.0 only had 2.0 on some of the ports,
see your mobo manual/spec sheet to see what you have.
