USB drive letters

I have 2 USB memory devices for daily backup so I swap
them each day. When I install the USB device the system
(XP) assigns it to drive D. I cannot see it because I
have a network disk mapped to drive D. I can change it to
drive E using the Disk Manager. But when I swap USB
devices, the system uses drive D again.

Is there any way to tell XP to assign E to USB drives
every time?

Hi,

It is more simple to map your network disk to other
drive, for example Drive Z. This would solve your problem
permenently.

I have done that. But wouldn't it have been better if XP
had noticed that the drive letter was in use and used
another one or at least told me that there was a conflict.
