Folks,

Ever since I upgraded to XP Professional and SP2, whenever I start my PC
with USB devices installed, it will freeze at the splash screen. If I
hotplug the devices, the system runs without a hitch ... any suggestions?

Its an Acer Aspire 1714Smi Laptop

120 GB Seagate
WinXP Pro SP2 (reinstalled via a slipstreamed disk)

tia,

Just off hand, I would guess you have a driver problem and my first
guess is the scanner. See if you can find new drivers for XP. Yea I know
XP is suppose to have drivers for most everything, but they are not always
the best, full featured or even there. Older scanners seem to be a special
problem and often don't have drivers for XP.
