USB better than ps/2 port?

hi i have a Microsoft Intellimouse Optical with USB
plug....and a microsoft Intellimouse Ball ps/2
plug....just wondering about the performance and or O/S
100 percent compatiablity of 1 another. Would it be better
if i use a "Microsoft USB to PS/2 Adaptor"?

I've found no problems with the USB->PS/2 adapters, with several different
OSs. Mind you, I use Logitech or generic mice, not MS ones.
