USB bandwidth limitation

Two months ago, I bought a new computer, Gateway GT5032. I thought with an
AMD Athlon64X2 4200+ CPU and 1GB memory as well as 250GB harddrive, that the
other components would also be accordingly adequate.

Not so. I just learned that it does not have enough USB bandwidth to run MSN
messenger7.5 with a Logitech QuickCam Pro 3000 and a Logitech USB headset 350.

Two questions:
1. How can I find out, how much USB bandwidth the present computer has?
2. Would a Belkin Hi Speed USB 2.0 5-Port PCI card solbe the problem. They
advertise 400MB.

Thanks in advance,
Gerhard

If you have USB 2.0 ports now - then you have what the PCI card would give
you.
Have you updated your hardware drivers? Particularly the chipset drivers?

Thanks for helping.
The computer is brand new, only 2 months old.
How do I find the chipset?

Go to manufacturer's web page for drivers..
http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/dlcenter.asp

Thanks for the update URL. I went there and did all the recommended updates.

But it did not change a thing. The bandwidth limitation still does not
allow to run MSN 7.5

What is the error message you are getting?
I do not believe the problem is your USB..
I know I have ran what you are trying (or something similar) and more on USB
1.1 ports.

First - do you already have USB 2.0?
http://ask-leo.com/how_can_i_tell_if_i_have_usb_20.html

What is your Internet connection speed?

1.I get:†Exceeding USB bandwidthâ€
2.Yes, I have USB 2.0 (but also USB 1, Standard Open HCD USB Host Controller)
3.I have cable with a speed of 100Mb
