I am having problems transferring digital video from a Sony digital 8 video
camera. Troubleshooting tells me to check the USB audio playback settings but
there is no USB audio option in the playback dropdown box only in the
recording box. When transfer a video get the video but no sound. I have
Windows XP. Does anyone have any ideas?

I'm not sure what USB connection you maybe using?
Nor am I sure of what type of "digital video" you get from an "digital 8"?
I suspect you have simply selected the incorrect audio inputs.
Your cam won't have a USB port, unless you are using a hub?
Do you have an external capture device connected to USB?
Your cam is probably a Hi8, and you've connected the S-Video to
apt input?
The audio out of your cam you connect to a line-in
These can be on the front panel of some PC's or a specific
line-in on your soundcard, but it must be a *line-in* input,
Or if using a Hub, there will be dedicated line-in sockets.
I suggest you connect the audio to a line-in socket on your
soundcard, and in the "drop-down menu's" select:
"Line in"
"Line One"
"Stereo input"
"Stereo mix"
Or :
It may just detail your soundcard, if so, select that.....
