Printer driver is not loaded. Computer thinks it is. Can plug and unplug
USB cable and sounds of recognition are noted. After I turn off the computer,
unplug the printer device, and plug in USB after computer is running, the
wizard does not come up. Somehow I have to load the printer driver to the
Device Manager and I can't get the wizard to come on. Computer thinks this
is an installed device when it is not. How do I get the wizard to engage?

Hi, Unwanted.

Some hardware comes with drivers that need to be installed from their own
CD-ROM, rather than by the WinXP Wizard. Many of them say to install this
software BEFORE you plug in the printer.

What make and model hardware? What does the owner's manual say about
installation? Have you visited the printer maker's website to see if they
have a Tech Support page?
