Then you have a problem , to USB2 or not to USB2!

So it would seem. I was hoping that someone, somewhere had written drivers
to overcome this problem. I have a friend who has a board with a different
chip-set and he found just such a driver. Doesn't work with nForce2 though.
(Or at least my mobo).

No. Cables are the same. USB2 cables are a
marketing hype.

You're the only one who said the cables don't make a difference but
I've asked the same question on different message boards and they
said the cables do make a difference. They said you won't get the
faster speed without the 2.0 cable. I don't know who to believe.
I would think it doesn't make a difference. I'm going to ask around
at a few more forums.

If the cables are to spec, they will work equally well at usb1.1 and usb2.0
speeds. Check out the faq and other information at

If your USB cables don't work with a USB 2.0 interface, they are defective.

All of the above. My system is stable, secure and fast. I've heard a few
horror stories concerning sp1 and don't need anymore hassles.

Doesn't anyone else know the "don't migrate to the next MS OS until
service pack 3 is released" mantra?

:)

Depends also on what SP1 he is talking about. At least one of
those takes the unsuspecting user from a relatively innocuous EULA
to one in which MicroSloth has the right to invade your machine,
remove anything it disapproves of, and insist on your upgrading
(and paying) whenever they want more money.

Bingo! MS have had enough from me in the way of money over the years. They
are *not* going to compromise my *ownership* of my computer and what I have
on it any more than they already do. Bill can take his plans to rule the
world and stick 'em where the sun don't shine. If I wasn't a gamer I'd be
using Linux.

Plus, it runs fine without sp1. Roll on games written (or ported to) Linux.
We just need a good, standard API. (Gotta admit, DirectX is pretty good
these days).

I have installed SP1 on 3 computers........no problems.

Don't toppost. Obviously you didn't read the EULA, or you don't
care that MS can do anything it wants to your machinery at any
time, including changing all previous agreements. A natural born
slave.

I'm not a slave!!!
