Hello

One of our users is having an issue with opening a URL link in his email.
We're using Outlook 2003 and the link in the email appears proper:

http://www.google.com

when you click on it the browser (IE 6) opens but the url is entered as

http://"http://www.google.com"

so it appears that it the browser takes the url link, puts quotes around it
and sticks it in front of its own http://

Now I dont know if the problem is Outlook or IE so I decided to post in the
Outlook forum.

Thanks in advance for any help!!

Is the e-mail a plain-text or HTML-formatted message? If HTML, what
is the actual value of the href parameter in the <A> tag?

When you create a URL shortcut on the desktop that has
http://www.google.com/ in its "item location" field and then
double-click on it, does it open okay in the default web browser?

The email was plain text.

I did a right click on the desktop and created a new shortcut.

the same problem occured with that shortcut.

So it would appear that this is not an Outlook issue...more related to the
browser.

Do you have any thoughts or suggestions.

Thank You

Go into IE's options and disable all plug-ins. Restart IE and check if
the problem continues.

Reboot Windows into its safe mode (with networking) and see if it still
happens. If not, I'd suspect some security software is interferring
with the URLs.
