If you cannot get to Safe Mode to turn off the Startup Group (or just
shellexpl.exe, if you spot it) using "START, Run, MSConfig", then,
perhaps...
(1) Boot to DOS (Hold CTRL for Startup Menu; select "Command Line
Prompt".)
(2) C:
(3) CD\
(4) DIR shellexpl.exe /a /s
Note the folder it is in.. if not "C:\", then adjust...
(2) REN C:\shellexpl.exe shellexpl.bad
(3) Ctrl-Alt-Del to Windows
Now, disable it in MSConfig. Go update your virus definitions, & expunge
it properly. Eventually, delete "C:\shellexpl.bad".
