Urgent- MSDTC hangs system after a crash

M

marcello

Hi all,
Anybody can help me??
My computer is running a Win2000 Server Sp4 OS.

After a system crash I noticed that the msdtc.exe service
was hanging the system while it's starting up, leaking 100
of cpu.
I've been compelled to manually kill the process to let
the OS start up.

Now, each time I restart the computer, I must kill msdtc
to let the system start up.

I tried to reinstall msdtc (dtcsetup.exe), with no
achievent at all!

Can anyone help me please? I'll indeed be thankful to
him...

regards

Marcello

I had a similar issue to that and what I found out from
the internet that you have to rename the msdtc.log file ot
something like msdtc.old, which resides in the
C:\WINNT\system32\MsDtc folder. Restart the system and it
should work fine then. The new log file will be created at
the reboot. It worked for me, hopefully works for you as
well. Somehow this log file gets corrupted for no apparent
reason.
