Hi all,

I'll try and keep this short and sweet.

I have 2 hard drives, 1 is almost 'broke' (120gb) the other works fine
(320gb). I installed Vista on the 320gb hard drive, but unless the 120gb hard
drive is connected it wont load vista up. I have looked on the 120gb hard
drive and there appears to be a bootsect.bak file of 8kb which after reading
around on the net, seems to be something to do with the boot options. I have
been told that if i moved this file over to my 320gb hard drive it wont be
able to load windows again. I have no other ideas why i cannot boot Vista
without the 120gb hard drive connected

Please - anyone who can help, leave a message.

You do not specify so this a guess - that at the 120 was the primay drive
(C) and you installed Vista while the drive was active. In that case Vista
installs a "Boot" folder on the 120. You may getting an error such "ntldr
missing".

Try Vista DVD repair option or Google for a Microsoft KB on the problem.

I just had this problem yesterday. My solution was to BootEdit Pro which
is a GUI interface the Bootloader configuration, you can use it to copy
the boot information to another drive and make that drive boottable.
