I've tried inserting a 640x420 jpg on a page created in FP XP and it
doesn't show up after uploading to my web site. All the gifs I've
placed show but not this one jpg. I can't be because the image isn't
getting placed on my server becuase I see it in my 'images' folder.
I made sure the jpg was saved there when prompted by FP and then did
a Publish to Web. Seems to be a jpg only thing.

Any thing I need to check?

thank you

You may have saved it as a cmyk jpg instead of a rgb jpg.
Post the URL to the page it's supposed to be on.
You Imported them into FP first right?

You must always import the images into your site before you use them on the
pages. Show us the URL of the page.

I see I *hadn't* imported them first because I didn't need to with
gifs. I always went straight to Insert > from File.

Why do the gifs work this way and not the jpgs?

I followed the online help and it says to select the folder you
want the image to end up before I do an import. Well I selected
the images folder of the web root but after the import completed,
it ended up in the root of the web. I then inserted from *that*
location, published and it shows up
(http://www.pcgurudenver.com/pr02.htm) but I would like to know
also why it didn't import the jpg into my images folder (which
would keep things neat and orderly). I realize I can drag via
explorer in the images folder and then insert from there
(according to the online help) but I better check first to see if
that really works too!

Thanks for the heads up

The easiest approach is to have the web open in FP, then drag-n-drop the image or file directly into
the current open web in whatever folder you want, then insert into your page.

did you import it first, then insert it in the page, then publish the image and
the page? * and have a web open as well* ?

you need to import with *all* files - images, scripts, html pages etc etc etc.
It is not just jpgs you import.

any files that are going to be part of the site need to be imported.
