IProblem with upgrading. When installing Vista Home Premium, I get as far as
Expanding Files, then it has to restart. When it restarts I get a blue screen
saying 'A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent
damage to your computer' Tech info STOP. 0x0000007B (0x84C08BA0,
0xC0000034, 0x000000, 0x000000). Upgrade Advisor said OK to upgrade. Can
anyone help please?

Reply. Tried your link, but when I went to error messages, nothing seemed to
directly apply. Nearist one was Stop 7B Vista changing SATA mode of Boot
Drive. said too, Inaccessable boot Device , but this message did not come up
with me. By the way. my System says Winows XP MCE 2002, but when I open up
my Media Center it shows Software version 2005. can I get any other help
please? I have just bought the Home Premium Edition (£145) and can't install
it! Getting frustrated.
Thanks. Martin

I had the same problem (with a Medion 8818 PC. Solution is to change
the BIOS setting from IDE to Raid. This avoids the blue screen - you
just get a BIOS warning that you haven't really got a raid
configuration - but the upgrade to vista runs to completion.. Medion
forgot to document this, and it's not exactly intuitive.
Alternatively, you can do a complete new installation on a new
partition - which saves you the trouble of changing IDE settings to
RAID.
