Upgrading to XP - existing files gone walkabout

Now that I have upgraded to XP from ME "My documents" has been renamed. As a result, applications like Media Player, WinMX and Kodak Easy Share can't find my files anymore because the path name has changed, although they are still there on the system. How can I rename them so that they are "seen" by these applications?

RTFM (or RTFH) for these apps you will be able to redirect them to where
your files are.

Right click My Computer, select Properties > Advanced > Environment
Variables and modify your path.

My Documents is a reference in the registry, rather than an actual
folder. In ME this pointed by default to a single folder in Windows.
In XP each User account has his own personal folder - under
C:\Documents and Settings\username\ you will find his version of My
Documents, where it is kept separated from other peoples. Your pointer
has been reset to point to this, but the files left where they were,
under Windows\My Documents. So open a couple of My Computer Windows on
the two, and move them across
