Uninstalling manually is indeed recommended. Uninstalling won't lead to loss
of any data. After an upgrade I recommend recreating your mail profile; http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/newprofile.htm

When I upgrade to OL 2007 from 2002 what do I need to do so I do not lose
my contacts? Should I uninstall 2002 first?
