upgrading NT 4.0 to XP 1

I have NT service pack 4 and i want to upgrade to XP pro,
will i have any problems? and will all my files and work
be kept or erased?

I believe that WinNT must be patched to at least Service Pack 5
before the upgrade to WinXP Pro will work.

Have you made sure that your PC's hardware components are capable
of supporting WinXP? This information will be found at the PC's
manufacturer's web site, and on Microsoft's Hardware Compatibility
List: (http://www.microsoft.com/hcl/default.asp) Additionally, run
Microsoft WinXP Upgrade Advisor to see if you have any incompatible
hardware components or applications.
