yes you will be able to legally use your copy of windows xp on the same
computer but different hard drive if the old hard drive will be wiped
clean before you install the new one except for the case where your
license is an OEM license that is permanently tied to your computer and
hard drive where in the case of such case you will definitely have
problems sorry for my lack of punctuation or paragraphing it's just
that i post replies in the same mode as the post i am replying to.

Sure you can upgrade or change components in a computer and reinstall the
same OS. XP will need to be activated either through the internet or of
that doesn't work by a phone call. You just can't transfer an OEM version
to a different computer.

Yes you can do this.

You could also use drive cloning software (the hard drive manufacturer
should have a free one for download) to copy the entire content of the
old drive to the new one. That could save you all of the time and
hassle of reinstalling applications, reconfiguring them, restoring
data files from backups etc.

Good luck

I highly recommend the cloning option. Both for upgrades and recovery.

Good day

I'm about to upgrade my Windows XP hard drive too and was concerned about
the legality. This thread has helped reassure me. I have Drive Image Image
by Power Quest (though it's Drive Image 2002) Will this software do all I
need? Apologies if I have interrupted someone else's thread. Not quite sure
of thread etiquette! Many thanks in advance.
