i think it really depends on wether it is an OEM or a retail copy. my
mother's work computer had to have the motherboard replaced once and she did
not have to reactivate the operating system. usually in OEM systems, i think
you would probably have to reactivate the OS. her PC had a non-OEM version
of windows on her computer.
