Upgrade to XP stops internet access

G

Gary Phillips

Upgraded from 2000 prof. to XP prof. All successful
except can't connect to the internet via ADSL or dial-
up.
Modem and ethernet cards say they are working properly.
Both connections open successfully when I enable them.
Error messages in IE and OE say that I am not connected
to the internet.
Other computers connected to the same ADSL router still
function normally and access the internet OK.
All antivirus software and firewalls disabled and then
uninstalled. The XP firewall is also disabled.
Have run out of ideas.

Hello Gary,

Call your ISP and ask them to help you with your
problem. Also, what error messeges are you getting?

Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion Brian,
ISP couldn't help last time I spoke with them - the loss
of functionality appears to be directly linked to the
upgrade to XP. Error message when send/receiving is
along the lines of 'can't find server check you have
identified the correct server name'
