upgrade to windows vista from dual linux/xp system

Hi, I currently have linux/xp running just fine on one harddrive. I want to
upgrade my old XP installation while leaving my linux installation untouched.
Do I choose the upgrade option of custon installation?

I have a linux boot CD so I can get back in and overwrite window's boot
loader if necessary. Also I know I risk messing up the XP system but I backed
my data, but I'd prefer not to do a clean install and have to reinstall all
my programs.

Thanks for any help.

I wouldn't upgrade a production install of XP since there is a likely
possibility of system failure and inability to recover. Also, your Linux
boot loader, either LILO or GRUB is gonna cause problems. What I would
suggest is, you format the Linux partition from within Vista or create new
partition and launch Vista setup from "within XP" choose the custom option
and install Vista on the logical partition you created for it.
