Upgrade to Vista Business & Outlook 2002 problem

Everytime my Send/Receive looks for mail, the Enter Network Password pops up
and I have to fill in the password,,,EACH time. It doesn't save the pw in the
password list nor does it hold the pw in the Outgoing Server tab "logon using"

Tech support wants to charge $49 to resolve the issue so any help would be
great

thanks Nate

There is no resolution. This is a known incompatibility that probably won't be fixed because Outlook 2002 is past its mainstream support period.

thanks Sue. Why would it have happened now in Vista but not 3 days ago in XL
pro? Is there an upgrade path to Outlook 2003. Is it fixed in 2003?
thanks nate

Vista came out years after Outlook 2002 was finished. Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007 are both current applications. Therefore, they were tested with Vista and don't have this problem.

You mean XP Pro? It works there because Outlook 2002 is fully compatible
with Windows XP. Outlook 2003 is fully compatible with Windows Vista as well
so there is nothing to "fix."

You can indeed upgrade to Outlook 2003 but why not upgrade to Outlook 2007
instead then?

Sue, Roady & Diane...thanks for your excellent advise. I had an extra copy of
MS Office 2003, so I upgraded the full Office and Outlook now works
perfectly.
I'm not sure why I hadn't done this in the past other than "if it ain't
broke..." Roady, what are the advantages to upgrading to 2007 vs @$350
upgrade of Office Pro.

thanks again to ALL for quick answers and solutions

To name a few of my favorite end-user features in Outlook 2007;
the "To-Do Bar"
Calendar Overlay Mode
improved Tasks display in Calendar
reminders across folders
Scheduling your Out of Office Assistant with Exchange 2007
Instant Search
of course; the new editor with Ribbon support

You should be able to find some better packaged deals especially when
combining Microsoft Office 2007 Home and Student Edition + a separate copy
of Microsoft Office Outlook 2007. Through Amazone a combined deal is less
than $220 and that is a full copy and not an upgrade (not available for both
anyway).

Are there any password fixes for outlook 2003? I see that 2003 and 2007 are
compatible but my 2003 always asks me for a password. I appreciate any
assistance. thanks, chuck

Sue - your tossed off response about old versions is not responsive or
helpful. I am running xp and 2003 and the same thing has happened. It is
clear if you read these and other support postings that this is happening on
every combination of operating system and outlook version you could come up
with. None of the fixes described on the MS website work.
