? There's some miscommunication here. It works for /everything/. After
you're in Customize mode, the cursor changes to a hand. Grab /any/ item
(including the back/forward arrows) with the hand, and move it to wherever you
want. (Firefox 3.6.13)

I added that line to the registry, but can't see any before
or after difference. I wonder though if changing any of the
other registry values in "ITBarLayout" or "ITBar7Layout"
might make a difference...?

(don't worry - I got 30 Erunt registry backups) :)

What do you mean don't show up? Don't you have them on the left, where they
normally are? *Not* inside the Customize window, but on the main Firefox? Grab
them *there* and move them wherever you want. The items inside the Customize
window are only these that are *not* on the main window. Is that the confusion?

The buttons aren't in the Customize box-o-tools. You can drag the icons
around right from the main menu.

Gotcha ! my bad - yes, I was able to move them now!

Now, all I need is to find out how to assign a custom
fav icon to a bookmark when FF doesn't pick one up from
the website. Is there a way in FF?

Not sure whether this is common knowledge, but I just
tried it, and couldn't believe that it actually works to have
both - IE6 and IE8 installed at the same time (in XP).

I have a choice now of IE6 or IE8, and of course any other
browser such as Firefox or Chrome...etc. Nice!

Hopefully somebody knows; I don't know.

I only upgraded from MS IE6 to IE8 now, since a particular web page
I regularly visit doesn't render properly any longer in IE6.

Other than being slower to respond compared to IE6, I have a hard time
getting used to it because it cannot be customized any longer the way
IE6 could - unless I'm missing something?
For instance, the MENU bar is  unmovable now, even though it has the
little bar one the left that previously could be dragged up or down.

I'm only able to move the COMMAND bar, but this doesn't help since it
cannot be moved next to the MENU bar to free up extra space.

The worst part is that the BACK and FORWARD buttons are fixed on the
far left side.  I had them on the right side above the scroll bar before,
which is the most logical place to be so one doesn't have to move the
mouse back and forth across the entire page after using the scroll bar.

There are other annoying quirks, such as the mouse pointer dropping
to the bottom of the screen after clicking on certain functions.

My question again is - am I missing something, is there perhaps a hidden
menu / way to better customize IE8?  Does anyone know if IE9 follows
the same user-unfriendly design?  Thanks...

Have you thought about dumping I.E. for something like Firefox or
Chrome?

They run circles around I.E. in the customization department.

Mr. Mint
Why dump Ie 6 & 8 when you can have it all from FireFox to Opera!
You needed to be more open minded all a Good WebMaster!

And Dump only your Shit in the Pot!

IE even has allow cookies for session and uses a proxy server properly.
The above line is actually a lie.

This is Usenet. It would be courteous to include the line you are
referencing, just as I am doing.

Wouldn't be much of a cyber-attack if I didn't know about it - would it?!!

Yes, it would.
And they'd have to be soooo stealthy that even my bank didn't even know
anything was taken.

They're not interested in the paltry amount of money in your account.
An attack with absolutely no visible signs or long-term consequences?

How about becoming part of a net bot that spews spam loaded with malware?
