I have posted this elsewhere...so if it looks familiar just skip over it. heh

Greetings all,

As you can obviously tell I am new here, and I have been reading through
posts trying to work this out on my own. I am now asking if anyone would have
some input in order to assist me with this.

I am Presently running Windows Vista Home Premium that came as part of my
system being built prior to the end of 2006 (I cannot recall the exact dates
of the deal.). I ran through a full clean install and have been using it for
a while. I was thinking of upgrading to Ultimate, and since I believe my
hardware can support it possibly to Ultimate x64. ( I will post my specs
below)

Now as far as I can tell the options available to me are as follows:

1. Buy the full retail version at approximate $399 USD and go with that.

2. Use Windows Anytime Upgrade and go to Ultimate and get the backup discs.
Then...?

3. Purchase an OEM disc from someplace like newegg or similiar

Essentially I am trying to figure out if it would be possible to keep the
present key I have and get the new one from an OEM disc. I do not really plan
on installing Vista anywhere else at this time though so I am not sure it
even matters. The real end result I am looking for is to run Ultimate, and
the x64 version if it is cost effective.

p.s. I haven't been feeling well today, so this may have come out a bit
awkwardly.

You can't upgrade 32bit to 64bit; it has to be clean install.

If you are sure it will stay with the one computer 'til it dies, use an OEM
disk, and use the Key that comes with it.

The Key that you are using now for home Premium is tied to that copy, and
that computer, as it is OEM as well, and can not be transferred to another
computer(you said that it was preinstalled)
