Upgrade of NT domain with a "." in the name

I need to upgrade a NT domain with the name "blahblah.ac.com" to Active
Directory. Has anyone tried this and can comment? As far as I recall this
causes some problems with Exchange 2000 installation later on. Is that true?

I don't think their should be any problems. Our domain at college was
XX.ttu.edu
We were in our own forest and had our own exchange 2000 server. We upgraded
from 5.5 to 2000. The domain ttu.edu exists but it was a different forest.
