Upgrade hard drive

Due to space limitations, I needed to purchase a larger
hard disk. Using Drive Image 5.0, I copied my old C:
drive to the new drive. After disconnecting the old
drive, jumpering the new drive as master, and changing the
bios accordingly, XP Home appears to boot but hangs at the
blue XP screen, just before the logon screen. Any
suggestions how to fix this? (I do not want to have to
reinstall XP Home from scratch on my HD.)

Thanks,

Rob

I have just done the same exercise. You need to make the
new drive 'active' by right clicking on it within Disk
Management function of MMC. Then close down, reconfigure
the jumpers on both drives and reverse the cable
connection so that the new drive is at the end of the
cable, and then reboot. You do not need to change the
BIOS settings. Win XP will automatically re-assign the
new drive as C:\ and the old drive as E:\ (or other).
This worked for me so I hope it is the correct method.

I confirmed using Disk Management function that the new
drive is configured as 'active'. However, noticed that
the original drive is configured as 'system'. How do I
configure the new drive as 'system'? Could this be the
cause of my problem?
