How do you mean " Nothing will open - not even Microsoft Windows"? If
Windows won't open, how do you know Excel is still there?

Have you tried doing a repair of Office?

If you purchased a "Retail Upgrade Version" of Windows XP
Professional and chose the default "Upgrade" option during
setup, you would not have lost your programs.

I recently downloaded Internet Explorer 7; it seemed to work OK until I
attempted to click on a link in any of my e-mail - I use Outlook
Express.....I clicked on the links in various emails and nothing happened.
After about a month of frustration, I uninstalled the IE7 and now I can not
access my online banking account. ,,,I get a message about Inverse Laounch
IPI, messate DLL /AUXSOURCE

I have no idea what this means or how to go about fixing this problem.

I have no trouble accessing other accounts online such as a credit card site
that requires login and password.....so I do not understand why I can't log
on to my banking site.....HELP!!

Only thing I can tell you is that IE7 does NOT uninstall itself completely and what it leaves screws up everything.
I would say use the rollback feature if you have it. But I gave up on that feature ages ago also. Switched to Acronis. But even it failed to fix what ie7 screwed up. Had to reinstall the OS again.

You can pound your head against the wall for weeks trying to find what ie7 screwed up, or reinstall the OS now.

Suggest you back up ALL data in all folders to CD/DVD then create a partition just large enough to hold your OS [30 gigs]. And start installing OS to that, and programs and data to the rest of your drives. That way next time it dies you can just restore/replace the 30 gig OS. Acronis, Norton ghost, etc.. image software. You'll need a 30 gig partition for the backup of your OS.
30gig OS + 30 gig backup = 60 gigs. if you're stuck with an 80 gig HD, it's time for a few more larger drives.

Oh and at windows update, put the IE7 FORCED update on 'Never remind me again' or it'll self install again when you aren't looking.

M$ If you're listening FIX IE7. "Or find a fix for it's uninstall/reinstall of ie6.

Oh and FWIW: Don't hijack another post. Create your own.
how you upgraded is the key. I'll take a WAG since you didn't post any symptoms or error messages, that you didn't use a migrate program, and all your registry entries are now different.
Only option - reinstall all programs that don't work. Good time for housekeeping. delete the folders of those programs you're re-installing b4 you reinstall.
